Major Scam Breakthrough - Scammers Selling cars in Windsor Via Kijiji Website

I almost was a victim of a major scam that seemed to be flawless, however, thanks to my years of experience and slight paranoia I had reported what seemed to be the, almost, "perfect scam".
Here's what happened....
This evening I was on kijiji Windsor looking for French doors and I see this car ad which caught my attention. It was a Blue 2006 Honda Civic being up for sale at $4400 . I clicked on the classified ad and read on... I noticed that this classified ad was listed approximately 10 minutes prior to me going onto the site and I thought to myself that I just happened to find this great deal and that I should look more into it and perhaps even contact the person for more information regarding the vehicle. I did just that!
Let me tell you what happened next - This is No BULLSHIT!!!
I contacted the person about the vehicle and minutes later I received a reply and it said that the vehicle was still for sale and that SHE "in short", mentioned that the reason she is selling it is because she is getting a divorce and in the divorce she received the 2006 Honda as part of the settlement and also that she does not have a DRIVERS LICENSE and therefore wanted to sell the vehicle.
She also mentioned that she is from St. John's, NB and that she would ship the vehicle to me by using Ebay and MoneyGram.com to secure a safe transaction.
In that email it also mentioned that I should forward my full name and address to prepare the transaction with Ebay. After reviewing the email I had replied back to the lady with the information requested and moments later I received 3 emails which seemed to be authentic.
Wow, I was kind of excited. Here I am thinking that it's true and this is legit...that I am getting these emails from Ebay this has got to be real. But, something just wasn't sitting right... I read the email I had received from this lady maybe three or four times and I just kept getting a weird feeling about this.
I had gone on to research the MoneyGram.com web site
and that website seemed legit.
I reviewed the three emails and in one of them it mentioned that Ebay will provide me with an authorized Ebay Personnel to receive the funds in holding while I give the authorization to release the funds after my satisfaction has been met. These funds would be sent to England via MoneyGram.com. This email also included a contact email and again it all looked legit.
Still, I had to cover my ass just in case because you never know. I had contact Ebay and thank goodness they have a live chat support and this is where I was told, after a brief discussion and uploading the contents of the email, that the email was indeed a fraud!!!
Funny thing happened as I went back to kijiji, approximatley 20 minutes later, I noticed that the original classified ad had now changed to show a new price with same vehicle and different photos. Perhaps trying to fish another unfortunate person.
Well, I had immediately contacted Kijiji and left them a REALLY NICE AND LONG MESSAGE of no more than 2000 words.
I received an auto reply from them telling me that they would get back. Unlike the Ebay representative on the instant chat, I had insisted that he put out a warning to members immediately and he had acknowledged the importance and told me that he was already on top of it!!!
Please, as I have taking the time to write this to you please pass this onto other members of our community. Let's help protect one another from these theives who are becoming more and more creative in their scamming techniques. I will not let this go. I will send this out to everybody. Please spread the word. People need to know whats going on.

Adding a background

Hello everyone. I finally figured out how to add backgrounds into the site, to help give you a more "personalized feeling". Here is a website that has several backgrounds

You will see a huge list of names, once you click which image you want as your background, you will see "Get the code" under the picture, copy that code into your profile style, to get to profile style, click profile edit, then profile style, and you will see a white empy box. Next before you save, you will want to delete some of the code, to make it work properly. If you scroll down the code slowly you should see something that says:
/* Use this with templates/template-twocol.html */
All you have to do now is delete this and everything above it and save, and thats it. If you have any problems I will be happy to help you out. |
